Hadith of 'Adi ibn 'Amirah (RA)
حديث عدي بن عميرة الكندي
Hadith 536:0
Narrated to us by Hisham ibn Sa’id, who said: Narrated to us by Muhammad ibn Muhajir, from Rabi’ah ibn Yazid, from Abu Kabshah al-Saluli, from ‘Adi ibn ‘Amirah al-Kindi, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: "Whoever among you we appoint to a position of authority, and he conceals from us a needle or something smaller than that, it is a misappropriation (ghulul) that he will bring forth on the Day of Resurrection." A man from the Ansar, as if I am looking at him, stood up and said: "O Messenger of Allah, accept back from me your authority." He (the Prophet) said: "Why?" He replied: "I heard you say such and such." He (the Prophet) said: "I say it now: Whoever among you we appoint to a position of authority, let him bring forth everything, whether it be small or large. Whatever he is given from it, let him take it, and whatever he is forbidden from, let him refrain."
