Musnad Ahmad 536:1

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Jarir ibn Hazim, who said: 'Adi ibn 'Adi narrated to us, saying: Raja' ibn Haywah and al-'Urs ibn 'Amirah informed me, from his father 'Adi, who said: A man from Kindah, called Imru' al-Qays ibn 'Abis, disputed with a man from Hadramawt before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding a piece of land. He (the Prophet) ruled against the Hadrami based on evidence, but he had no evidence. So he ruled against Imru' al-Qays by oath. The Hadrami said: "If you allow him to take the oath, O Messenger of Allah, by Allah—or by the Lord of the Ka'bah—my land will be gone." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever swears a false oath to seize the property of his brother by it, he will meet Allah while He is angry with him." Raja' said: And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited: {Indeed, those who exchange the covenant of Allah and their oaths for a small price} [Al 'Imran: 77]. Imru' al-Qays said: "What is for the one who leaves it, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Paradise." He said: "Then bear witness that I have left it for him entirely."
