Hadith of 'Amr ibn 'Abasah (RA)

Hadith 782:2

Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Hurayz ibn Uthman—who is al-Rahbi—narrated to us, Sulaym ibn Amir narrated to us, from Amr ibn Abasah, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was at Ukaz, and I said: "Who has followed you in this matter?" He said: "A free man and a slave." And with him were Abu Bakr and Bilal (may Allah be pleased with them both). He said to me: "Return until Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, establishes [the matter] for His Messenger." I came to him later and said: "O Messenger of Allah, may Allah make me a ransom for you, [teach me] something that you know and I am ignorant of, which does not harm you and by which Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, benefits me: Is there any hour better than another? And is there any hour in which one should refrain from prayer?" He said: "You have asked me about something that no one before you has asked me about. Indeed, Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, descends in the middle of the night, and He forgives, except for what is of shirk (polytheism) and oppression. So, prayer is witnessed and attended. Pray until the sun rises. When it rises, refrain from prayer, for it rises between the two horns of a devil, and it is the prayer of the disbelievers, until it ascends. When the sun is high, pray, for prayer is attended and witnessed until the day reaches its zenith. When the day reaches its zenith, refrain from prayer, for it is an hour in which Hell is stoked, until the shadow shifts. When the shadow shifts, pray, for prayer is attended and witnessed until the sun descends for setting. When it descends, refrain from prayer until the sun sets, for it sets between the two horns of a devil, and it is the prayer of the disbelievers."

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
