Hadith 870:1
'Affan narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, Ayyub narrated to me, he said: I heard 'Amr ibn Salamah, he said: When the day of the Conquest [of Mecca] arrived, people began to pass by us, having come from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. I was reciting [the Quran], and I was a young boy. My father came with the conversion of his people to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Let the one among you who has memorized the most Quran lead you in prayer." They looked, and I was the one who had memorized the most Quran among them. He said: A woman said, "Cover the backside of your reciter." He said: So they bought a garment for me. He said: And I was never happier than I was with that.
حدثنا عفان، حدثنا شعبة، حدثني أيوب، قال: سمعت عمرو بن سلمة، قال: لما كان يوم الفتح، جعل الناس يمرون علينا قد جاءوا من عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فكنت أقرأ، وأنا غلام، فجاء أبي بإسلام قومه إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " يؤمكم أكثركم قرآنا "، فنظروا، فكنت أكثرهم قرآنا، قال: فقالت امرأة: غطوا است قارئكم، قال: فاشتروا له بردة، قال: فما فرحت أشد من فرحي بذلك
