Hadith 870:2
'Abd al-Wahid ibn Wasil al-Haddad narrated to us, Mis'ar Abu al-Harith al-Jarmi narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Amr ibn Salamah al-Jarmi narrating that his father and a group of his people came as a delegation to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) when his affair became manifest and the people were learning the Quran. They fulfilled their needs, then they asked him: "Who shall lead us in prayer?" or "Who shall pray with us?" He said: "The one among you who has gathered the most Quran, or has taken the most Quran, shall lead you in prayer, or lead with you." They returned to their people and inquired within the tribe, but they did not find anyone who had gathered more than I had gathered. So they put me forward before them, and I led them in prayer while I was a young boy wearing a small garment of mine. He said: I have not witnessed a gathering of Jurm since then but that I was their Imam, up to this day of mine.
