Hadith 815:1
Abdullah narrated to us, my father narrated to me in the year two hundred and twenty-eight, Waki’ narrated to us, Mis’ar bin Habib al-Jarmi narrated to us, ‘Amr bin Salamah narrated to me, from his father, that they came as a delegation to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. When they wanted to depart, they said: "O Messenger of Allah, who shall lead us in prayer?" He said: "The one among you who has gathered the most of the Quran," or "the one who has taken the most of the Quran." He said: There was no one among the people who had gathered as much of the Quran as I had. He said: So they put me forward, and I was a young boy, and I would lead them in prayer while wearing a small garment of mine. He said: "I have not witnessed a gathering of Jurm except that I was their Imam, and I pray over their funerals to this day."
