Hadith 815:2
Isma'il narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from 'Amr ibn Salamah, who said: We were at a watering place, and travelers—and Isma'il once said: people—would pass by us returning from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I would draw near to them and listen, until I memorized some of the Qur'an. The people were waiting for the conquest of Makkah to embrace Islam. When it was conquered, a man would come to him and say: "O Messenger of Allah, I am the envoy of such-and-such tribe, and I have come to you with their Islam." My father went with the Islam of his people and returned to them, saying: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'Let the one among you who has memorized the most Qur'an lead you in prayer.'" He said: So they looked, and I was a young boy who had memorized a great deal. They did not find anyone among them who had memorized more Qur'an than me, so they put me forward, even though I was a boy. I led them in prayer while wearing a small cloak. Whenever I would bow or prostrate, it would pull up, and my private parts would be exposed. When we finished praying, an old woman among us said: "Cover the backside of your reciter from us." He said: So they cut a shirt for me, and he mentioned that he was extremely happy with it.
