Hadith 475:1
Rawh narrated to us, Zam'ah ibn Salih narrated to us, he said: I heard Ibn Shihab narrating that Abu Umamah ibn Sahl ibn Hunayf informed him, from Abu Umamah As'ad ibn Zurarah—and he was one of the chieftains on the day of al-'Aqabah—that he was afflicted by a thorn (or a sharp pain/illness). The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came to visit him and said: "Wretched is the death for the Jews"—twice—"They will say: 'If only he could have defended his companion!' Yet I possess no power to cause him harm or benefit, and I shall surely intercede for him." So he ordered that he be cauterized with two lines above his head, and he died.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
