Hadith of Fura'a bint Malik (RA)
Hadith 1195:1
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Sa'd ibn Ishaq, who said: Zaynab bint Ka'b narrated to me, from Furay'ah bint Malik, who said: My husband went out in pursuit of some slaves of his who had fled, and he overtook them at the edge of al-Qadum, where they killed him. News of his death reached me while I was in a house far from the houses of my family. I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and mentioned that to him. I said: "The news of my husband's death reached me while I was in a house far from the houses of my family, and he did not leave me any provision, nor wealth for his heirs, and the house is not his. If I were to move to my family and my maternal uncles, it would be more comfortable for me in some of my affairs." He said: "Move." When I went out to the mosque—or to the chamber—he called me—or ordered that I be called—and he said: "Stay in your house in which the news of your husband's death reached you, until the decree reaches its term." She said: So I observed the waiting period ('iddah) in it for four months and ten days. She said: Then Uthman sent for me, and I informed him, and he acted according to it.
................................. ................................. .................................
