Hadith 1298:1
'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Amr narrated to us, he said: Zuhayr—meaning Ibn Muhammad al-Khurasani—narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Muhammad—meaning Ibn 'Aqil ibn Abi Talib—from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn Talhah, from his paternal uncle 'Imran ibn Talhah, from his mother Hamnah bint Jahsh, who said: I used to experience a severe and profuse state of *istihada* (irregular vaginal bleeding). I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to seek his legal opinion and inform him, and I found him in the house of my sister, Zaynab bint Jahsh. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have a need for you." He said: "And what is it?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am experiencing a profuse and severe state of *istihada*, so what is your view on it? It has prevented me from prayer and fasting." He said: "I advise you to use cotton, for it removes the blood." She said: "It is more than that." He said: "Then use a pad (to bind yourself)." She said: "It is gushing forth." He said to her: "I will command you to do two things; whichever of them you do will suffice you instead of the other, but if you are strong enough to do both, then you know best." He said to her: "This is but a kick from the kicks of Satan. So menstruate for six or seven days in the knowledge of Allah, then perform *ghusl* (ritual bath). When you see that you have become pure and cleansed, then pray for twenty-four or twenty-three nights and days, and fast, for that will suffice you. Do likewise every month, just as women menstruate and just as they become pure at the time of their menstruation and their purity." "And if you are strong enough to delay the Dhuhr prayer and hasten the 'Asr prayer, then perform *ghusl* and pray Dhuhr and 'Asr together; then delay the Maghrib prayer and hasten the 'Isha' prayer, then perform *ghusl* and combine the two prayers, then do so. And perform *ghusl* with the Fajr prayer and pray. Do likewise, and pray and fast, if you are able to do that." And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "And this is the more pleasing of the two matters to me."
حدثنا عبد الملك بن عمرو، قال: حدثنا زهير يعني ابن محمد الخراساني، عن عبد الله بن محمد يعني ابن عقيل بن أبي طالب، عن إبراهيم بن محمد بن طلحة، عن عمه عمران بن طلحة، عن أمه حمنة بنت جحش، قالت: كنت أستحاض حيضة شديدة كثيرة ، فجئت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أستفتيه وأخبره فوجدته في بيت أختي زينب بنت جحش قالت فقلت يا رسول الله: إن لي إليك حاجة فقال وما هي فقلت يا رسول الله: إني أستحاض حيضة كثيرة شديدة فما ترى فيها قد منعتني الصلاة والصيام قال: أنعت لك الكرسف، فإنه يذهب الدم، قالت: هو أكثر من ذلك قال: "فتلجمي" قالت: إنما أثج ثجا فقال لها سآمرك بأمرين أيهما فعلت فقد أجزأ عنك من الآخر فإن قويت عليهما فأنت أعلم فقال لها " إنما هذه ركضة من ركضات الشيطان، فتحيضي ستة أيام أو سبعة في علم الله ثم اغتسلي حتى إذا رأيت أنك قد طهرت واستنقأت ، فصلي أربعا وعشرين ليلة أو ثلاثا وعشرين ليلة وأيامها وصومي، فإن ذلك يجزئك وكذلك فافعلي في كل شهر كما تحيض النساء، وكما يطهرن بميقات حيضهن وطهرهن، وإن قويت على أن تؤخري الظهر، وتعجلي العصر، فتغتسلين ثم تصلين الظهر والعصر جميعا، ثم تؤخرين المغرب، وتعجلين العشاء ثم تغتسلين وتجمعين بين الصلاتين، فافعلي وتغتسلين مع الفجر وتصلين، وكذلك فافعلي وصلي وصومي، إن قدرت على ذلك " وقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " وهذا أعجب الأمرين إلي "
