Hadith 894:2
Azhar narrated to us, Hisham—meaning al-Dastawa'i—narrated to us, from Abu 'Imran al-Jawni, who said: We were in Fars and we had a commander over us called Zuhayr ibn 'Abd Allah. He said: A man narrated to me that the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever spends the night on a roof—meaning on top of a house that has nothing around it to restrain his leg—then the protection (dhimmah) is absolved from him. And whoever boards the sea after it has become turbulent, then the protection (dhimmah) is absolved from him."
