Hadith 871:1
'Affan narrated to us, Mubarak ibn Fudalah narrated to us, al-Hasan narrated to us, a sheikh from Banu Sulayt informed me, he said: I came to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to speak to him regarding captives of ours taken during the Jahiliyyah. He was speaking to the people, and a circle had surrounded him. He was sitting, wearing a thick Qatari waist-wrapper. The first thing I heard from him was him saying, while gesturing with his hand like this—and Mubarak gestured with his index finger—: "The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim; he does not wrong him, nor does he forsake him. Taqwa (piety) is here, Taqwa is here," meaning in the heart.
حدثنا عفان، حدثنا المبارك بن فضالة، حدثنا الحسن، أخبرني شيخ من بني سليط، قال: أتيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، لأكلمه في سبي أصيب لنا في الجاهلية، فإذا هو يحدث القوم وحلقة قد أطافت به، فإذا هو قاعد عليه إزار قطر له غليظ، أول شيء سمعته منه وهو يقول بيده هكذا، وأشار المبارك بإصبعه السبابة: " المسلم أخو المسلم، لا يظلمه، ولا يخذله، التقوى هاهنا، التقوى هاهنا " أي في القلب "
