Hadith 871:2
'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, 'Ali bin Zayd informed us, from al-Hasan, a man from Banu Sulayt narrated to me, he said: I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was among a gathering of people, and I heard him saying: "The Muslim is the brother of the Muslim; he does not wrong him, nor does he forsake him. Righteousness (taqwa) is here." Hammad said: And he pointed with his hand to his chest. "And no two men have loved each other for the sake of Allah, then they become separated, except by a newly invented matter (hadath) that one of them commits. And the newly invented matter is evil, and the newly invented matter is evil, and the newly invented matter is evil."
حدثنا عفان، حدثنا حماد، أخبرنا علي بن زيد، عن الحسن، حدثني رجل من بني سليط، قال: أتيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وهو في أزفلة من الناس، فسمعته يقول: " المسلم أخو المسلم، لا يظلمه، ولا يخذله، التقوى هاهنا "، قال حماد: وقال بيده إلى صدره: " وما تواد رجلان في الله، فتفرق بينهما إلا بحدث يحدثه أحدهما، والمحدث شر، والمحدث شر، والمحدث شر "
