Musnad Ahmad 1105:3

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Shu'bah, and Muhammad ibn Ja'far, Shu'bah narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn Murrah, from Ibn Abi Layla, that Sahl ibn Hunayf and Qays ibn Sa'd were sitting in al-Qadisiyyah. A funeral procession passed by them, so they stood up. It was said to them: "It is only one of the people of the land (a dhimmi/non-Muslim)." They said: "A funeral procession passed by the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he stood up. It was said to him: 'It is a Jew.' He said: 'Is it not a soul?'"
