Hadith 405:1
Abdullah ibn Ahmad said: Mus'ab ibn Abdullah, who is al-Zubayri, narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to me, from Fa'id, the freed slave of the 'Abadils, who said: I went out with Ibrahim ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Rabi'ah. Ibrahim ibn Abd al-Rahman sent for the son of Sa'd. When we were at al-'Arj, a son of Sa'd came to us—and Sa'd is the one who guided the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, to the path of Rukubah. Ibrahim said: "Inform me of what your father narrated to you." The son of Sa'd said: My father narrated to me that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, came to them, and Abu Bakr was with him. Abu Bakr had a daughter with us who was being nursed. The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, wanted to take a shortcut on the road to Medina. Sa'd said to him: "This is the pass of Rukubah, and there are two thieves from Aslam there called 'the disgraced ones' (al-muhanan). If you wish, we shall take the path upon them." The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Take us upon them." Sa'd said: So we went out until, when we appeared, one of them said to his companion: "This is the Yemeni." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, called them and presented Islam to them, and they accepted Islam. Then he asked them about their names, and they said: "We are the disgraced ones." He said: "Rather, you are the honored ones (al-mukraman)." He ordered them to go ahead of him to Medina. We went out until we reached the outskirts of Quba. The Banu 'Amr ibn 'Awf met us. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "Where is Abu Umamah As'ad ibn Zurarah?" Sa'd ibn Khaythamah said: "He has been afflicted before me, O Messenger of Allah. Shall I inform him for you?" Then he proceeded until, when he appeared over the palm trees, the watering basins were full. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, turned to Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, and said: "O Abu Bakr, this is the place I saw myself descending to, like the basins of the Banu Mudlij."
قال عبد الله بن أحمد، حدثنا مصعب بن عبد الله هو الزبيري، قال: حدثني أبي، عن فائد، مولى عبادل، قال: خرجت مع إبراهيم بن عبد الرحمن بن عبد الله بن أبي ربيعة، فأرسل إبراهيم بن عبد الرحمن إلى ابن سعد، حتى إذا كنا بالعرج أتانا ابن لسعد، وسعد الذي دل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على طريق ركوبه، فقال إبراهيم: أخبرني ما حدثك أبوك؟ قال ابن سعد: حدثني أبي، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أتاهم ومعه أبو بكر، وكانت لأبي بكر عندنا بنت مسترضعة، وكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أراد الاختصار في الطريق إلى المدينة، فقال له سعد: هذا الغائر من ركوبة، وبه لصان من أسلم يقال لهما المهانان، فإن شئت أخذنا عليهما، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: " خذ بنا عليهما " قال سعد: فخرجنا حتى إذا أشرفنا إذا أحدهما يقول لصاحبه: هذا اليماني. فدعاهما رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فعرض عليهما الإسلام فأسلما، ثم سألهما عن أسمائهما، فقالا: نحن المهانان، فقال: " بل أنتما المكرمان " وأمرهما أن يقدما عليه المدينة ، فخرجنا حتى أتينا ظاهر قباء، فتلقى بنو عمرو بن عوف، فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: " أين أبو أمامة أسعد بن زرارة؟ " فقال سعد بن خيثمة: إنه أصاب قبلي يا رسول الله، أفلا أخبره لك؟ ثم مضى حتى إذا طلع على النخل، فإذا الشرب مملوء ، فالتفت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى أبي بكر رضي الله عنه، فقال: " يا أبا بكر، هذا المنزل رأيتني أنزل إلى حياض كحياض بني مدلج "
