Hadith 248:2
Sufyan ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us, he said: Al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Wa'il, he said: Sahl ibn Hunayf said: "Suspect your own opinions. For I saw us on the day of Abu Jandal, and if we had been able to reject the command [of the Prophet], we would have rejected it. By Allah, we have not placed our swords upon our shoulders since we accepted Islam for a matter that distressed us, except that it led us to a matter we recognized, except for this matter; we would not block one gap except that another gap would open up for us."
حدثنا سفيان بن عيينة، قال: حدثنا الأعمش، عن أبي وائل، قال: قال سهل بن حنيف: " اتهموا رأيكم، فلقد رأيتنا يوم أبي جندل، ولو نستطيع أن نرد أمره لرددناه، والله ما وضعنا سيوفنا عن عواتقنا منذ أسلمنا لأمر يفظعنا إلا أسهل بنا إلى أمر نعرفه، إلا هذا الأمر ما سددنا خصما، إلا انفتح لنا خصم آخر " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
