Hadith of Sawdah bint Zam‘ah (RA)

حديث سودة بنت زمعة

Hadith 1275:0

Narrated to us by Yahya ibn Sa’id, from Hisham, who said: My father narrated to me, from ‘Aishah, that Sawdah bint Zam’ah sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on the night of Muzdalifah to depart before the rush of the people. She was a heavy woman, and he gave her permission. So she departed before the rush of the people, while we remained until the morning, then we departed with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). I would have preferred to have sought permission from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) as Sawdah did, and that would have been dearer to me than any happiness.
