Musnad Ahmad 925:2

Abdullah narrated to us, Abu Khaythama narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from al-A’mash, from Salama ibn Kuhayl, from Suwayd ibn Ghafala, who said: We were pilgrims, and I found a whip, so I took it. The people said: "You take it? Perhaps it belongs to a Muslim man." I said: "Is it not better for me to take it and benefit from it than for a wolf to eat it?" Then I met Ubayy ibn Ka’b and mentioned that to him. He said: "You did well." Then he said: "I found a purse containing one hundred dinars, so I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and mentioned that to him. He said: 'Announce it for a year.' So I announced it for a year, then I came to him and said: 'I have announced it for a year.' He said: 'Announce it for another year.' Then he said: 'Benefit from it, but keep its tie and its cloth, and count its number. If its owner comes...'" Jarir said: "I did not memorize what came after this," meaning the completion of the hadith.
