Hadith 906:2
Isma'il narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Muhammad, from Umm 'Atiyyah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to us while we were washing his daughter, and he said: "Wash her three times, or five times, or more than that, if you see fit, with water and lotus leaves (sidr), and put camphor, or a little bit of camphor, in the final washing. When you have finished, inform me." She said: When we finished, we informed him, so he threw his waist-wrapper (izar) to us and said: "Shroud her in it." He said: And Hafsah said: He said: "Wash her an odd number of times: three, or five, or seven." He said: And Umm 'Atiyyah said: "We braided her hair into three braids."
حدثنا إسماعيل، أخبرنا أيوب، عن محمد، عن أم عطية، قالت: أتانا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ونحن نغسل ابنته، فقال: " اغسلنها ثلاثا، أو خمسا، أو أكثر من ذلك، إن رأيتن ذلك، بماء وسدر، واجعلن في الآخرة كافورا، أو شيئا من كافور، فإذا فرغتن فآذنني " قالت: فلما فرغنا آذناه، فألقى إلينا حقوه، وقال: " أشعرنها إياه "، قال: وقالت حفصة: قال: " اغسلنها وترا ثلاثا، أو خمسا، أو سبعا "، قال: وقالت أم عطية: " مشطناها ثلاثة قرون "
