Hadith of Umm Tariq (RA)

حديث أم طارق

Hadith 1212:0

Narrated to us by Yahya ibn Sa’id, from Hisham, who said: My father narrated to me, from ‘Aishah, that Umm Tariq—and she was a woman who had been a slave of the family of Sa’d ibn Zurarah—came to the Prophet (ﷺ). She had been a slave of the family of Sa’d ibn Zurarah, and she had been freed. She said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is the right of the husband over his wife?" He replied: "If he were to have an ulcer from his head to his feet, and she were to lick it, she would not have fulfilled his right. If it were permissible for a human to prostrate to another human, I would have commanded the wife to prostrate to her husband when he enters upon her, due to the greatness of his right over her." She said: "Then I shall not marry." He said: "Marry, for there is good in it."
