Musnad Ahmad 1238:2

Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Shu'bah informed us, from Simak ibn Harb, from 'Alqamah ibn Wa'il, from his father: "That the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) granted him a piece of land. He said: So Mu'awiyah sent [someone] with me [saying]: 'Give it to him,' or he said: 'Mark it out for him.'" He said: So Mu'awiyah said to me: "Let me ride behind you." I said: "You should not be among those who ride behind kings." He said: So he said: "Give me your sandal." I said: "Walk in the shade of the she-camel." He said: When Mu'awiyah became Caliph, I came to him, and he seated me with him on the throne. He reminded me of the hadith. Simak said: He said: "I wish I had carried him in front of me."
