Hadith 810:1
Bahz narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Abdullah ibn Uthman al-Thaqafi, that a one-eyed man from Thaqif—Qatadah said: He used to be called "Ma'ruf" (meaning he was praised for good), he was called Zuhayr ibn Uthman—that the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "The walimah (wedding feast) is a right. The second day is a kindness (ma'ruf). The third day is showing off and hypocrisy."
حدثنا بهز، حدثنا همام، عن قتادة، عن الحسن، عن عبد الله بن عثمان الثقفي، أن رجلا أعور من ثقيف، قال قتادة: كان يقال له معروف، أي يثنى عليه خيرا، يقال له: زهير بن عثمان، أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " الوليمة حق، واليوم الثاني معروف، واليوم الثالث سمعة ورياء "
