Musnad Ahmad 332:3

Mu'awiyah ibn 'Amr narrated to us, he said: 'Abdullah ibn Wahb narrated to us, from 'Amr, that Bukayr narrated to him, he said: While I was sitting with Sulayman ibn Yasar, 'Abd al-Rahman came and spoke to Sulayman. Then Sulayman turned to us and said: 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Jabir narrated to me that his father narrated to him that he heard Abu Burdah say: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "Do not lash more than ten lashes except in a prescribed punishment (hadd) from the prescribed punishments of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic." 'Abdullah said: My father said: Thus he said to us regarding it. My father said: And I hold this view, meaning the hadith, meaning the hadith of Abu Burdah ibn Niyar.
