Musnad Ahmad 855:1

Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Hammad—meaning ibn Zayd—narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Muhammad, who said: Al-Hakam ibn Amr al-Ghifari was appointed over Khurasan. Imran ibn Husayn wished for that [position]. It was said to him, "O Abu Nujayd, shall we not call him for you?" He said, "No." Then Imran ibn Husayn stood up and met him among the people. He said, "Do you remember the day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: 'There is no obedience to a created being in disobedience to Allah'?" He said, "Yes." Imran said, "Allah is the Greatest."
