Narrated Hanzalah ibn Hudhaym: I went with my grandfather, Hudhaym, to the Prophet (ﷺ). My grandfather said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have sons and grandsons, some of whom are adults and some are children. Which of them should I favor?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not favor any of them." He then said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have a son who is a man of understanding and intelligence, and I have another who is a man of such and such (describing his weakness)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Do not favor any of them. If I were to command anyone to favor anyone, I would have commanded that women be favored."
