Musnad Ahmad 858:1

Abu Sa’id, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Dhiyal ibn ‘Ubayd ibn Hanzalah narrated to us, he said: I heard Hanzalah ibn Hudhaym, my grandfather, that his grandfather Hanifah said to Hudhaym: "Gather my sons for me, for I wish to make a bequest." So he gathered them, and he said: "The first thing I bequeath is that for this orphan who is in my care, there shall be one hundred camels, which we used to call in the Jahiliyyah: 'the perfumed ones' (al-mutayyabah)." Hudhaym said: "O father, I heard your sons saying: 'We only acknowledge this in the presence of our father, but when he dies, we will retract it.'" He said: "Then between me and you is the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)." Hudhaym said: "We are satisfied." So Hudhaym, Hanifah, and Hanzalah—who was a boy with them, riding behind Hudhaym—set out. When they came to the Prophet (ﷺ), they greeted him. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "What brought you, O Abu Hudhaym?" He said: "This," and he struck his hand upon Hudhaym’s thigh, and said: "I feared that old age or death might overtake me suddenly, so I wanted to make a bequest. I said: 'The first thing I bequeath is that for this orphan who is in my care, there shall be one hundred camels, which we used to call in the Jahiliyyah: the perfumed ones.'" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) became angry, until we saw the anger in his face. He was sitting, then he knelt upon his knees and said: "No, no, no. The charity is five, or if not, then ten, or if not, then fifteen, or if not, then twenty, or if not, then twenty-five, or if not, then thirty, or if not, then thirty-five; and if it is more, then forty." He said: So they bade him farewell, and with the orphan was a staff, and he was striking a camel with it. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "This staff of an orphan is too large." Hanzalah said: So he brought me near to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: "I have sons who have beards and others younger than that, and this is the youngest of them, so pray to Allah for him." He wiped his head and said: "May Allah bless you," or "May he be blessed." Dhiyal said: I have seen Hanzalah, when a person with a swollen face or an animal with a swollen udder was brought to him, he would spit on his hands, say "Bismillah," place his hand on his head, and say: "Upon the place of the palm of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)," and he would wipe it over it. Dhiyal said: "And the swelling would go away."
