Shaybah ibn Uthman al-Hajabi (RA)

شيبة بن عثمان الحجبي (1) (2)

Hadith 41:1

Waki' narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Wasil al-Ahdab, from Abu Wa'il, who said: I sat with Shaybah ibn Uthman, and he said: Umar ibn al-Khattab sat in this seat of yours and said: "I have intended not to leave any gold or silver in the Kaaba except that I would distribute it among the people." I said: "That is not for you to do. Your two companions preceded you and did not do that." He said: "They are the two men whose example is to be followed."

حدثنا وكيع، حدثنا سفيان، عن واصل الأحدب، عن أبي وائل، قال: جلست إلى شيبة بن عثمان، فقال: جلس عمر بن الخطاب في مجلسك هذا فقال: لقد هممت أن لا أدع في الكعبة صفراء، ولا بيضاء إلا قسمتها بين الناس، قال: قلت: ليس ذلك لك، " قد سبقك صاحباك، لم يفعلا ذلك "، فقال: هما المرءان يقتدى بهما
