Shaybah ibn Uthman al-Hajabi (RA)

شيبة بن عثمان الحجبي (1) (2)

Hadith 41:2

'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Wasil, from Abu Wa'il, who said: I sat with Shaybah ibn 'Uthman in this mosque, and he said: 'Umar ibn al-Khattab sat with me in this seat of yours and said: "I have intended not to leave in it [the Ka'bah] any gold or silver without distributing it among the Muslims." I said: "You will not do that." He said: "Why?" I said: "Your two companions did not do it." He said: "They are the two men whose example is to be followed."

حدثنا عبد الرحمن، عن سفيان، عن واصل، عن أبي وائل، قال: جلست إلى شيبة بن عثمان في هذا المسجد، فقال: جلس إلي عمر بن الخطاب مجلسك هذا، فقال: لقد هممت أن لا أدع فيها صفراء، ولا بيضاء إلا قسمتها بين المسلمين، قال: قلت: ما أنت بفاعل، قال: لم؟ قلت: " لم يفعله صاحباك "، قال: هما المرءان يقتدى بهما
