Tafsir of An-Nazi'at 79:45

Surah An-Nazi'at: (45) Indeed, you are only a Warner...

Then the Almighty said: {Indeed, you are only a Warner for whoever fears it} (An-Nazi'at: 45).

In this verse, there are several issues:

The meaning of the verse is that you (O Prophet) have been sent only for the purpose of warning. This meaning does not depend on your knowledge of the exact time of the Hour (Qiyamah). In fact, if we were to be fair, we would say that warning and admonition are most effective precisely when knowledge of the exact time of the Hour is not available.

Although the Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent as a Warner to everyone, the warning is specifically attributed to {whoever fears it} because only that person benefits from the warning.

The word {منذر} (munthir) has been read with tanwin (indefinite marking), which is the default.

Al-Zajjaj stated: The pattern Mufa''il and Fa''il are vocalized with tanwin if they refer to the future or the present, because they function as a substitute for a verb. A verb must always be indefinite (nakirah). Deleting the tanwin is permissible for the sake of brevity (takhfif). Both forms (with or without tanwin) can refer to the present or the future. However, if the past tense is intended, only the idafa (construct state) is permissible, such as saying: "He is the warner of Zayd yesterday" (huwa munthiru Zaydin ams).

{As if, on the Day they see it, they had not remained [in the world] except for an evening or a morning.} (An-Nazi'at: 46)
