And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah or denies the truth when it has come to him? Is there not in Hell a [sufficient] residence for the disbelievers?

Tafsir
Verse range: 29:68
"Invented a lie against Allah": Their claim that Allah has a partner.
"And denied the truth when it came to him": Their disbelief in the Messenger and the Book.
In His saying, "when it came to him," there is a belittlement of them. It means: they did not hesitate in denying it the moment they heard it. They did not act as those of sound mind and steady judgment do in matters—who, upon hearing news, employ deliberation and thought, and wait until its truth or falsehood is established for them.
"Is there not": This is an affirmation of their dwelling in Hell, like the poet’s saying: Are you not the best of those who ride mounts?
Some have said: "If it were a mere question, the Caliph would not have given him a hundred camels [as a reward for the poem]." Its reality is that the interrogative hamza entered upon a negation, thus returning to the meaning of affirmation. There are two interpretations:
"And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good."
