Adh-Dhariyat: 57

"I do not want from them..."

He means: My affair with My servants is not like the affair of masters with their slaves. For the owners of slaves only possess them to seek their help in acquiring their livelihoods and provisions.

One is equipped for trade to yield profit; another is assigned to agriculture to harvest the land; another is set to a craft to benefit from his wages; or one is a woodcutter, a gatherer, a cook, a baker, or similar tasks and professions that involve the management of the means of living and the doors of sustenance.

As for the Owner of the kingdom of slaves, He said to them: "Occupy yourselves with what brings you happiness in your own selves. I do not wish to employ you in acquiring My provision or your own. I am independent of you and your services, and I am the One who bestows upon you your provision and all that rectifies your state and sustains your life from Me."

"It is only I, the All-Provider, the Possessor of Power, the Firm."

  • "The Firm" (al-matīn): It is read in the nominative case (al-matīnu) as an adjective for "Possessor" (dhū), and in the genitive case (al-matīni) as an adjective for "Power" (al-quwwati), based on the interpretation of the [divine] decree.
  • The meaning of "Firm" in the description of "Power" is that He is the Capable One, possessing ultimate power over everything.
  • "The Provider" (ar-rāziqu): In the reading of the Prophet (peace be upon him): "Indeed, it is I who am the Provider."

Adh-Dhariyat: 59-60

"And indeed, for those who have wronged is a portion [of punishment] like the portion of their companions, so let them not urge Me to hasten. So woe to those who have disbelieved from their Day which they are promised."
