Al-Mursalāt: (38–45)

{We have gathered you and the former peoples} This statement clarifies the preceding: {This is the Day of Decision}. Because if it is the Day of Decision between the fortunate and the wretched, and between the prophets and their nations, then the gathering of the former and the latter is inevitable so that this decision may take place among them.

{So if you have a plan, then plan against Me} This is a rebuke to them for their plotting against the religion of God and its people, and a formal record of their helplessness and submissiveness.

{Eat and drink} This is in the position of a ḥāl (state) for the pronoun of the righteous, within the context of the phrase "in shades." That is: they are settled in shades, while this is being said to them.

{Eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals. Woe, that Day, to the deniers. And when it is said to them, "Bow," they do not bow. Woe, that Day, to the deniers. Then in what message after this will they believe?}
