What is the consequence of scholars disappearing and the ignorant assuming leadership?

The cessation of religious knowledge occurs not by its outright removal from people, but by the passing of the scholars. When no scholar remains, people will take ignorant leaders who will be consulted and will issue rulings without knowledge, thereby leading themselves and others astray. This is evidenced by the statement of the Prophet, peace be upon him: "Indeed, Allah will not seize knowledge by snatching it away from people, but He will seize knowledge by taking the scholars. Until when He leaves no scholar, the people will take ignorant leaders, who will be asked, and they will issue rulings without knowledge, thus they will go astray and lead others astray."
